About Be Pink:
Twin Tiers Young Professionals (TTYP) organized Be Pink in 2005 as a way to raise awareness about breast cancer for women under 40. Be Pink supported the community by raising funds for the local affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, giving money to help fund research efforts as well as educational campaigns. Promoted originally as a pre-race party for the local Susan G. Komen 'Race for the Cure,' Be Pink has become a community event that increases breast cancer awareness and expands the reach of the 'Race for the Cure'.
This year, Be Pink will work in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Feel Your Boobies, an organization founded by Leigh Hurst to help educate young women about the importance of self exams and early detection in combating breast cancer.
The Twin Tiers Young Professionals has been honored to present the Twin Tiers Susan G. Komen Affiliate with over $10,000 from the last three Be Pink events. With the support of the local media, businesses, and healthcare facilities, we created a fun atmosphere and raised money for a great cause. This year, we plan to donate a portion of the proceeds to promote awareness and education among young women through the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. The remainder of the proceeds will remain locally with the Twin Tiers affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
More than 200 people have attended Be Pink in the past for an evening that brings survivors together as we remember others we've lost and make efforts to ensure that every woman has the opportunity to know about breast cancer and chance to fight it.
