About Be Pink:

Twin Tiers Young Professionals (TTYP) organized Be Pink in 2005 as a way to raise awareness about breast cancer for women under 40. Be Pink supported the community by raising funds for the local affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, giving money to help fund research efforts as well as educational campaigns. Promoted originally as a pre-race party for the local Susan G. Komen 'Race for the Cure,' Be Pink has become a community event that increases breast cancer awareness and expands the reach of the 'Race for the Cure'.

This year, Be Pink will work in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Feel Your Boobies, an organization founded by Leigh Hurst to help educate young women about the importance of self exams and early detection in combating breast cancer.

The Twin Tiers Young Professionals has been honored to present the Twin Tiers Susan G. Komen Affiliate with over $10,000 from the last four Be Pink events. With the support of the local media, businesses, and healthcare facilities, we created a fun atmosphere and raised money for a great cause and helped promote awareness and education among young.

More than 200 people have attended Be Pink in the past for an evening that brings survivors together as we remember others we've lost and make efforts to ensure that every woman has the opportunity to know about breast cancer and chance to fight it.

To learn more about how you can be involved in this year's Be Pink festivities, contact co-chairs Meg Howells at meg.howells@yahoo.com or Brooke Sherman-Schmieg at brookejsherman@hotmail.com.

How can you become involved?

We are looking for support in the form of:

  • Monetary donations to cover expenses and publicity
  • Raffle prizes
  • Support Be Pink by allowing us to hang posters or banners at your business

You will receive:

  • Sponsorship recognition on our official event website, BePink.org.
  • Company mentions of support at the event itself.
  • Mention on publicity materials sent to local media organizations.
Our goal is to grow the event and present a larger donation to the Twin Tiers Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and continue to grow the event to ‘Promote & Increase National Knowledge’ of breast cancer among women of all ages in the greater Elmira area.

People decked out in pink and sporting their Feel Your Boobies
merchandise come out for the Be Pink fun, year after year!
